frequently asked questions//
WHAT ARE STANDALONE SERVICES?
Standalone services are those services charged by the hour, including an overhead fee, with the cost of each hour after the first rounded up from the thirty minute mark.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN HOURS ARE "ROUNDED UP FROM THE THIRTY MINUTE MARK?"
If the photographer shoots for 29 minutes or less after the first hour, you pay half the hourly fee for those additional hours. If the photographer shoots for 30 minutes or more in a given hour, you pay the full hourly rate. For example, 91 minutes of shooting would be charged as two hours of shooting and 61-90 minutes of shooting would be charged as 1.5 hours of shooting.
WHAT IS AN OVERHEAD FEE AND WHY AM I PAYING IT?
The overhead fee is the minimum amount the photographer earns for coming to the job. This fee includes up to 20 miles of travel and up to 1 hour of photography. Hourly rates apply thereafter.
WHAT ARE TRAVEL COST FEES?
If the photographer must travel more than 20 miles from his home to reach the shooting location, he will charge a minimal fee based on his vehicle's gas mileage and estimated costs plus the cost of any tolls. If the travel distance is substantial, IE, requiring transportation by railway, jet, or a long car trip, or requiring room & board, the total travel costs for these necessities will be added to the principal balance of services you have purchased. (IE, you bought the Wedding Day Package for $1,600, but the photographer must fly for $200, get a ride share for $50, and rent a hotel for $100. You pay $1,600 + $350, totaling $1,950.)
WHY ARE WEDDING DAY COSTS SO MUCH HIGHER THAN EVENT COSTS, OR EVEN ENGAGEMENT COSTS?
Weddings present a special set of challenges and circumstances that require an experienced, organized, talented photographer who can be a director (ordering your family and friends around during your group photos) a ninja (capturing candid, emotional photos of your ceremony without disrupting it) and a romantic (capturing lovely portrait photos of your and your new spouse after your ceremony). The photographer will shoot at minimum 1,500 photos, all of which must be examined and edited in a process that will add 30-50 hours of labor on top of the actual shooting of the event. Anything less than $1,000 payment for the day's work is a kindness to the client.
DO YOU OFFER RUSH DELIVERY?
Yes. The price for a rush delivery is $250 for the Wedding Day Package and $100 per service for standalone services. For wedding day services, this will see your photos delivered within 14 days beginning the day after the wedding. For all other services, this will see your photos delivered within 10 days beginning the day after the shoot. Rush delivery fees are not subject to any discount or offer.
I DON'T WANT YOU TO EDIT MY PHOTOS, AND I WANT MY PHOTOS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. CAN I HAVE A DISCOUNT?
You will not receive a discount on standard rates. However, your rush delivery fee will be waived.
